Apple officially put the iPhone 5 up for pre-order at 12:01 a.m. PT today, and shortly thereafter the quoted ship date for pre-orders slipped to two weeks. Now Apple has issued a statement to The Loop on how iPhone 5 pre-orders have been going so far, with spokeswoman Natalie Kerris saying that "pre-orders for iPhone 5 have been incredible" and that Apple is "completely blown away by the customer response.” Kerris didn't mention how many iPhone 5s Apple has moved so far.
Apple's official online store currently estimates that new iPhone 5 pre-orders will ship in 2-3 weeks. When it comes to the carriers, AT&T has the longest wait time, saying that new orders will ship in 14-21 business days. Meanwhile, Verizon expects new orders to be delivered by September 28, and Sprint says that the 16GB iPhone 5 will ship "in up to 2 weeks," while the 32GB and 64GB models are still available for September 21 delivery. While it looks like most folks that have yet to pre-order won't be receiving an iPhone 5 on day one, the wait times don't look to be too bad so far. Of course, if you're on the fence about pre-ordering, it'd be wise to make a decision as soon as possible so that your wait time doesn't get longer than it already is. How many of you have already placed a pre-order for an iPhone 5? If so, which model did you select?
