Looks like a month that'll already likely be stuffed full of new mobile phones may get a bit more jam-packed tomorrow. According to several sources speaking to The Verge, Amazon is hard at work on a smartphone, and the retailer could introduce it to the world as soon as tomorrow. Details on the device are scant, but it's expected that the handset will run a skinned version of Android similar to what's found on the Kindle Fire. Additionally, the phone is also said to be in an unfinished state, so Amazon may not have much to show off tomorrow.
Rumors of an Amazon-made smartphone have been floating around for a couple of months now. We've yet to see anything concrete, but it's been said that the device could have a display that measures between four and five inches. While Amazon has never released sales figures for the Kindle Fire, the device seems to have been one of the more popular Android tablets to date, so it'd be interesting to see if it could do well with a smartphone. I'm sure many folks would also be intrigued to see how Amazon could tweak its Kindle Fire operating system to run on a handset that's smaller than the 7-inch Fire. Amazon's event is going down tomorrow, so all may be revealed in less than 24 hours. Any of you think you'd consider an Amazon smartphone?
