Mozilla's Firefox OS is still in its early days, with developers currently digging into the platform ahead of its expected launch next year. We're getting a sneak peek at the OS today, though, as Engadget has gotten hold of some screenshots showing the Firefox OS Marketplace for apps. There's nothing terribly surprising about what we're seeing so far, but we do get to see what it's like to search for an app and browse the Marketplace's home page, which contains some highlighted apps and as well as different app categories.
So far there are several companies that've backed Firefox OS, as Mozilla announced earlier this year that manufacturers like ZTE and TCL Communication Technology (maker of Alctatel phones) would be creating the platform's first devices, and that Telefónica and Sprint were among the carrier's that'd signed on. Details on the Firefox OS products themselves are still light, but Mozilla has said that the first devices are expected to feature Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. Now we just need to wait for the OS itself to continue to cook in preparation of its 2013 debut. Here's to hoping that we get some more glimpses of it before then.
