HTC this morning was next in line to announce a new Android device in Berlin, as it officially introduced us to the Desire X. The Desire X looks to be the official designation for the Proto that leaked out a couple of times this month, featuring a 4-inch 800x480 Super LCD display and 1GHz dual-core processor, just like had been rumored. Other Desire X specs include a 5-megapixel camera, 4GB storage, microSD slot, 768MB RAM and a 1,650mAh battery. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is the OS on offer here, along with Sense 4.0 and features like Beats Audio and VideoPic, which allows users to capture photos and videos at the same time.
The look of the Desire X gives off a bit of a One series vibe (at least in the front and sides), but the device is actually a member of the Desire family, like the Desire C that was announced back in May. We'll have to wait to get the Desire X in our hands to see how it performs, but the phone's spec sheet makes it appear as though it'll be a mid-range entry in HTC's lineup. The Desire X is slated to hit select markets in places like Europe, the Middle East and Asia starting in September. No U.S.-specific release plans have been mentioned. HTC's full announcement of the Desire X is available for your perusal below.
