In the market for a new Android tablet? You'll soon have yet another option to consider, as Archos today announced its new 101 XS slate, which is the first member of the company's new Gen10 XS tablet lineup. The 101 XS comes with a Coverboard accessory attaches to the slate thanks to a set of magnets and can both protect it as a cover or serve as a keyboard dock, which also features a magnetic docking system and magnetic kickstand. The keyboard itself has a full set of keys, including some Android navigation buttons, and is powered by the 101 XS. The Coverboard can also be plugged into a power outlet to charge the 101 XS while docked.
When it comes to specs, the 101 XS features a 10.1-inch 1280x800 display on its face and a 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4470 processor inside its body. Also included is 1GB RAM, 16GB storage, microSD slot, micro-USB, mini-HDMI and Android 4.0.3. Archos says that the 101 XS will be upgraded to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in Q4 2012. The body of the 101 XS measures 0.31 inches thick and weighs in at 21 ounces.
If all of that information has piqued your interest in the Archos 101 XS, you'll be able to officially open up your wallet and buy one in stores and online in November for $399.99. Archos also says that it's planning to introduce more members of the Gen10 XS line, like the 97 XS and 80 XS, later this year. It's worth noting that the 101 XS features an unskinned version of Android 4.0, which could help it appeal to folks that prefer a vanilla build of Google's mobile OS. And while it's kind of a bummer that Jelly Bean isn't coming preloaded on the device, at least those customers interested in it know that it's got an Android 4.1 update in the pipeline.
