After another week of dominating the Official Smartphone Rankings chart, the Samsung Galaxy S III wins by more than double. So to start the week off right, we are excited to feature a brand new indepth user review from PhoneDog fan Timothy Tasmin. He believes it is the "Best Phone on the Market in the U.S." as do many of you.
"Best Phone on the Market in the U.S" By TIMOTHY TASMIN August 6, 2012
This phone is a beast. It has everything you'd expect from a flagship phone in 2012.This thing flies through, everything, no hints of lag anywhere and I can't wait until Jelly Bean is finally released for it.
Performance: 9.5/10 There is no noticeable lag o this phone. The only time it does lag on me is when I use the Sony Xperia Live Wallpaper, but it only happens if I don't use the Sony Xperia Launcher.
Battery Life 9/10: It could be better, but it lasts the whole day through normal moderate usage such as making phone calls, texting, browsing, 3D games(Dead Trigger), YouTube, and downloading apps. Note that I am on T-Mobile's HSPA+ 42Mbs network, so I don't have LTE sucking my battery dry like the ATT&T and Verizon models due, I still get around 11Mbps in my area, so it's still fast.
Camera/Video 10/10: Excellent, better than the Note and S II. It has fine tuned and added new features such as Burst Shot and HDR. Pictures come out crisp and vivid. Camera is also very good, quality is top notch.
Screen 10/10: Now this is a personal preference, I love SAMOLED HD screens, they give very saturated colors and deep blacks. I see Samsung has made improvements on the whites as there is not such an obvious blue hue as there were on previous Samsung phones. I would have liked to see a + in there, but I know that my screen will last longer without it since the blues won't die out as quickly.
Reception 8/10 and Call Quality 10/10: The reception I get from T-Mobile is spotty, it fluctuates between 2-4 a lot while on my Note (N-7000) it stays at 3-4 bars, mostly 4, I'm not sure why. Call quality on this phone is the best I have ever used on any smartphone, voices sound clear, robust, and natural, there is no other phone that can compare to it and I have tried a lot of smartphones.
Design 9/10: It's simple, light, and elegant. It is really thin compared to my Note and S II i-9100, and it feels light in your hands. The back does get scratches from what I've seen, so I just went to Ghost Armor and ordered the back and sides to be covered. The Hyper-Glaze gives it a nice finish.
Apps & Media Support 10/10: Samsung provides you with a plethora of their apps and some are more useful than others. I know it's a love or hate thing, but I'm going to base this off of a first time Android user(I'm not) since it will be more pleasing to average user to fins everything there. I hate the T-Mobile crapware though.
