Get ready for lots of percentages and market share information, because research firm comScore has released its latest report on the U.S. mobile industry. When it comes to smartphone platforms, Android is still holding down the top position, growing from a 51 percent share in March to 51.6 percent at the end of June. In second place is iOS, moving 1.7 percent during the March-June period to finish at 32.4 percent. Rounding out the top five is BlackBerry dropping 1.6 points to finish at 10.7 percent, Windows platforms with 3.8 percent and Symbian with 0.9 percent.
Moving on to manufacturers, Samsung is once again king of the OEM hill with a 25.6 percent share, though that number did drop a total of 0.4 percent during the three-month period. LG also saw a drop, falling 0.5 percent to finish at 18.8 percent. Apple saw the largest gain of any manufacturer during the period, growing 1.4 points to finish at 15.4 percent. Motorola took fourth place with 11.7 percent and HTC grew 0.4 points to end June 2012 with a 6.4 percent share of the U.S. market.
This latest report doesn't show many changes compared to last month's standings, but it is interesting to see that Android and iOS continuing to gain market share at the expense of the likes of BlackBerry, Windows and Symbian. As I mentioned before, it'll be interesting to see what effect the Galaxy S III has on these figures once next month's report is released. Until then, you can find comScore's full report on the March-June period right here.
