Hot on the heels of posting its Q2 2012 earnings results, Sprint has announced a few new cities that are due to gain 4G LTE coverage in the near future. Sprint has announced that Baltimore, Md., Gainesville, Ga., Manhattan/Junction City, Kan. and Sherman-Denison, Texas are all due to gain LTE service "before Labor Day" on September 3rd. No exact rollout dates were mentioned, but Sprint did say earlier this morning that Baltimore is slated to get LTE by the end of August.
Sprint actually named Baltimore as an LTE market way back at the beginning of February, but the Maryland city was left out of the initial Sprint LTE launch that went down earlier this month. And while these newly-named cities are located in states that already have Sprint LTE coverage, I'm sure that Now Network users are still glad to see Sprint spreading its new 4G service around. We'll keep an eye out for more on the rollout of Sprint LTE to these new markets and pass along any details that we find.
Sprint 4G LTE Coming to Four More Cities
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (BUSINESS WIRE), July 26, 2012 - Sprint (NYSE:S) today announced that four more cities will soon experience the speed and power of an all-new 4G LTE network. As the first national wireless carrier to introduce 4G service in 2008, Sprint will bring 4G LTE to the following cities before Labor Day:
Baltimore, MD
Gainesville, GA
Manhattan/Junction City, KS
Sherman-Denison, TX
“Sprint, in partnership with our vendors, continues to deploy 4G LTE across the country and we’re pleased to soon expand service to customers in these four cities,” said Bob Azzi, senior vice president-Network, Sprint.
In today’s competitive wireless market, the value of unlimited has never been more apparent. Sprint’s Everything Data plan with Any Mobile, AnytimeSM includes unlimited data, texting and calling to and from any mobile phone in America while on the Sprint network, starting at just $79.99 per month for smartphones (pricing excludes taxes and surcharges).
Over the past several years, Sprint has been working hard to deliver the best customer experience. In May 2012, The American Customer Satisfaction Index ranked Sprint No. 1 among all national carriers and most improved in customer satisfaction, across all 47 industries, over the last four years. Building an all-new network is the linchpin to make Sprint the company customers want to do business with.
Sprint first debuted 4G LTE to millions of people in 15 cities on July 15 and plans to introduce additional markets to the network in 2012. By the end of 2013, Sprint expects to have largely completed the build out of its all-new 4G LTE nationwide network – with an enhanced 3G network – covering 250 million people across the United States.
