When U.S. Cellular originally launched its 3G-enabled version of the HTC Flyer back in October 2011, the slate hit the market with Android 2.3 Gingerbread in tow. Fast-forward to July 2012, and U.S. Cellular's Flyer is finally getting updated to a whole new Android version number. Both HTC and U.S. Cellular have revealed on their respective support sites that the Flyer has an update to Android 3.2.1 Honeycomb available to it. The update will bring the U.S. Cellular Flyer to software version 2.29.573.3 and includes a new multitasking menu as well as improvements to the Calendar app and the layout of the Gmail/Mail apps.

So how can you U.S. Cellular Flyer owners install this Honeycomb update? PC users need to navigate to HTC's website and download both the HTC Sync software and the update itself, then plug the Flyer into your computer. Meanwhile, Mac owners out there will need to mosey on into their local U.S. Cellular store to have the update installed on their device. That may sound like an awful lot of work for an update to Honeycomb, but I'd say that it's worth the effort to avoid being stuck on Gingerbread forever.
