T-Mobile has been using the "America's Largest 4G Network" marketing tagline for quite a while now, but as of earlier this month, the slogan is no more. Speaking to FierceWireless, T-Mobile spokeswoman Danielle Hopcus has confirmed that the Magenta carrier stopped using the "America's Largest 4G Network" tagline as of July 10. Hopcus explained the decision to drop the largest network slogan by saying that since its inception, other carriers have worked to gain ground on T-Mobile as it grows its own 4G network, and T-Mobile doesn't have any interest in arguing over the final few differences in POPs. Instead, T-Mobile will focus on promoting its network's "performance and reliability." T-Mobile recently took the wraps off of a new ad that touts the more than 35,000 towers that it has across the country.
There's been a lot of back and forth in the recent advertising of a few different U.S. carriers over the size and speed of their respective 4G networks. AT&T says it has the largest 4G network, which it combines its HSPA+ and LTE coverage for, while Verizon claims to have the fastest 4G network and more LTE coverage than all other operators combined. Considering that AT&T's HSPA+/LTE networks covers 260 million people and Verizon is on track to reach 400 LTE markets by the end of 2012, it's not a shock to see T-Mobile no longer advertising its 4G network, which covers 220 million people, as America's largest. If you'd like to check out the aforementioned towers ad that T-Mobile released on the same date that it axed its "America's Largest 4G Network" claim, it's available below.
