Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch on Sprint have had to sit by and watch as Galaxy S II variants on other carriers have been bumped up to Android 4.0 over the past month or so. According to a new leak, though, the wait for the Epic 4G Touch's helping of Ice Cream Sandwich may nearly be over. The leaked document in the image above claims that an update to software version FF18 will begin pushing out to the Epic 4G Touch on July 12 and will continue rolling out through July 20. Included in this update, claims the doc, will be Android 4.0 along with a host of other tweaks, including an updated Settings menu and a new recent apps display UI.
The Epic 4G Touch was the first Galaxy S II variant to hit a U.S. carrier when it launched in September of last year. Unfortunately, it won't be able to claim the title of "First Galaxy S II Variant With Android 4.0," as AT&T and T-Mobile's models have already been bumped up to ICS, as has AT&T's Skyrocket. Regardless of its order in the Android 4.0 update process, though, I'm sure many Epic 4G Touch users will just be glad to see the new software finally hit. Whether or not that actually happens this week is still a mystery, but thankfully we've only got another couple of days to wait before we find out if this leaked document is indeed accurate. Stay tuned!
