While discussing its first quarter fiscal 2013 earnings last week, RIM revealed that the launch of its first BlackBerry 10 smartphones had been pushed back to the first quarter of the calendar 2013. Now a purported RIM device roadmap has leaked, complete with the adjusted BB10 launch window. The document offers alleged launch windows for several devices, so we'll break it down bullet point style to cover all that the roadmap shows:
RIM CEO Thorsten Heins also revealed during last week's earnings call that the first BlackBerry 10 full-touch and QWERTY-equipped devices would launch within a "close proximity" to one another, which jibes with what is shown on this leaked doc. While the roadmap doesn't offer up any sort of precise launch dates for these devices, BlackBerryOS does claim to have a bit more information on the release of BlackBerry 10, suggesting that it'll debut first in Europe in early January and then here in North America in early February. That may sound like a ways off, but hey, at least BlackBerry fans will have the PlayBook 4G to whet their appetite for a new device later this year.
