Earlier this year, Toshiba said that it planned to release Android 4.0 updates to both its 7-inch and 10-inch Thrive tablets during the spring. Spring officially gave way to summer earlier this week, though, and there's still no Thrive-flavored Ice Cream Sandwich to be found. Toshiba recently took to its official forums to address the situation, explaining that while it's working hard on updating the Thrives to ICS, the updates are now expected to arrive "by early fall." Toshiba's full statement:
"We are working hard to bring Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich to our Thrive tablets. While we originally estimated it would be ready this spring, we now estimate the update will be delivered to all Thrive 10” and 7” tablets by early fall. Apologies for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience."
Today's news is definitely a bummer for Thrive owners, especially considering that this update is the first we've heard on the situation since late February. Still, at least the update was just pushed back rather than outright canceled. Here's to hoping that Toshiba can get the Thrive's Android 4.0 updates out by the early fall like it's planning to and that the company doesn't have to delay them again. How many of you have a Thrive laying around?
