Remember earlier this week when some folks were able to download the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II's Android 4.0 update, but most users couldn't get to it? Well now we've got a bit of an explanation as to what was going on. AT&T explained to Android Central that it expects the Galaxy S II's Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade to go live "very soon," but that before it can begin pushing out, the carrier must test the new software out on its servers. AT&T's full statement:
"We plan for the upgrade to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) for Galaxy S II customers to be live very soon. Like with every OS update, we test it on our servers before we roll it out to customers. We’re in the process of doing that with Android 4.0 (ICS) for Galaxy S II customers and hope to make that live soon. We recommend customers wait to attempt the update."
So while the Galaxy S II's bump up to Android 4.0 may not be ready for public consumption just yet, it's getting close. Exactly how "soon" the update will be live is still unknown, but we'll be sure to pass along more concrete details on the rollout as we get them. Which of you AT&T folk own the Galaxy S II and are patiently waiting for the arrival of Ice Cream Sandwich?
