Remember the LG D1L? This Android handset first began circulating in rumors way back in early April, but since then that name hasn't popped up on our radar. It looks like we can finally put an end to the D1L mystery, though, as The Verge has confirmed with LG that D1L was the codename for the LG Optimus LTE II, which the company first introduced us to back in May. The D1L was rumored to feature a 4.7-inch 1280x720 display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, LTE support and Android 4.0, all of which are present in the Optimus LTE II. Other features of the Optimus LTE II include 2GB RAM, NFC, a 2,150mAh battery and LG's new Optimus UI 3.0.

When the LG D1L was first rumored, it was said that LG was prepping the device to be a competitor to the then-unannounced Samsung Galaxy S III. There's no word yet on exactly when we'll be able to see how the D1L/Optimus LTE II stacks up to the Galaxy S III, but it's said that the Optimus LTE II will be coming to the U.S. later this summer. We've spotted a Verizon-bound LG device with the codename "VS930" getting benchmarked and certified, and while it's not clear exactly what the VS930 is, some think that it could be the Verizon version of the Optimus LTE II.
