There's a Microsoft event scheduled for Monday at which the company will be making a "major" announcement, and now it looks like we've got something else to look forward to on Monday. Nokia's U.S. arm has begun posting images on its official Facebook page with different close-up images, like of Hawaii and a drum machine, with the date "06.18.12" overlaid on them. The company has also changed its cover photo to say "PureView. Like."

So what does Nokia have up its sleeve? According to AllThingsD, Nokia's announcement won't be related to Microsoft's, which is said to be tablet-related. The site claims that Nokia is planning to offer details on the U.S. availability of the 808 PureView, which made its debut back at MWC in February. Such an announcement would make sense considering the clues that Nokia has dropped: Hawaii's area code is 808, and the drum machine in Nokia's image is a Roland TR-808.

Nokia confirmed last month that the 808 PureView would be making its way to U.S. shores soon, but it was also said that the phone will be coming in an unlocked form, so we won't be seeing any carriers teaming up with Nokia for Monday's announcement if that does end up being the case. Still, it's good to hear that Nokia will be making the 808 PureView available to interested U.S. customers. And for folks that want to give Nokia's PureView camera technology a try but don't necessarily want to drop the cash on an 808 PureView, Nokia recently revealed that it'll eventually bring that tech to its Lumia Windows Phone devices as well.
