Just one week before Microsoft is slated to offer a "sneak peek of the future of Windows Phone," some purported screenshots from Windows Phone 8 have made their way online. Posted by Nokia Innovation, the images claim to show a number of new features that are rumored to be coming in WP8. For example, up above you can see Skype integrated into contact information. There's also a "DataSmart" data usage app, shown below, with the first bar indicating how much data the user has consumed and the second bar showing how many days are left in the monthly cycle. The app also appears to show a pie chart breaking down data use between cellular and Wi-Fi connections and an option to view other data plans. Finally, a refreshed camera app is shown in one of the leaked shots, showing a zoom bar on the left and then a button on the right for flipping between the front and rear camera on a device.
While we obviously won't know if these screenshots are legit until Microsoft either comes out and comments on them (yeah, right) or shows off Windows Phone 8 itself, they do look like they could belong on a Windows Phone handset and, as I mentioned earlier, the features shown jibe with previous rumors related to WP8. Thankfully, we're only a week out from Microsoft's Windows Phone Summit, so it may not be much longer before at least a little bit of light is shed on the veracity of these shots and WP8 itself.
