Shortly after it was revealed that some of the webOS Enyo team would be leaving HP to join Google, HP put up a post on its official Enyo blog touching a bit on the news. The company confirmed that "some key members" of the Enyo group have indeed departed, but HP assures us that "the majority of the engineering and leadership team remains." HP goes on to explain that it plans to redouble its development efforts and will be hiring more employees not only to replace the ones that've left, but to make the Enyo team larger than it was previously. As for the progress that's been made so far with Enyo, HP says that it's "thrilled" with the traction its gained and that the reaction to Enyo 2 has been "solid."

Considering that the Enyo team has lost what HP describes as "key members," a group that includes head Matt McNulty, it's no surprise that it'd need to bring some new workers onto the project to keep things going along. HP has said that its Open webOS project is still on track to meet the goals that it announced back in January, which includes a 1.0 release in September. With all the drama surrounding webOS late last year, as well as this latest news of key Enyo team members leaving HP, it'll definitely be interesting to watch what happens with Open webOS in the coming months and to see what the final release looks like come September.
