AT&T announced last year that all of its post-paid Android phones released in 2011 would be upgraded to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and today another one of those handsets has indeed received its update. The Pantech Crossover is the latest AT&T handset to join the Gingerbread club, as it was just revealed that the Crossover's upgrade to Android 2.3 is now available for download. The new software will bump users up to Android 2.3.6 and also includes several UI improvements and other enhancements. As usual, we've got the full changelog available below.
Today's news is pretty exciting for owners of the QWERTY-packin' Crossover, as the phone has been stuck on Android 2.2 since its debut last June. This update may not be Ice Cream Sandwich, but I'd say that moving to Gingerbread is better than being stuck on Froyo forever. Plus, it's good to see AT&T sticking to its word about updating its 2011 post-paid Android phones to 2.3. The bad news for you Crossover owners is that rather than performing a simple over the air upgrade, the new software must be installed by plugging the device into your Windows PC and using a Pantech upgrade tool.
