Heads up, Samsung Epic 4G owners. Sprint has announced that a new maintenance update is now rolling out in stages to the Epic 4G. The new update, which is version FC09, actually began pushing yesterday and is expected to hit all Epic 4G owners within six weeks. Just what goodies does the FC09 update contain? It's actually a rather small upgrade, packing in a fix for a bug that'd cause a force close error when answering a call. The Sprint Connections Optimizer is also included, which is a feature that'll automatically turn on and off the Wi-Fi and 4G radios on a device at pre-specified locations and times of day in order to help save battery life.
This looks like a pretty minor update for the Epic 4G owners out there, but as we've said in the past, any update is good to see, even if it's a small one. In the Epic 4G's case, today's update squashes a bug that caused an error when answering a phone call, which is a pretty important thing to be able to do since these things are phones. If you're an Epic 4G owner, be sure to swing by the comments below once you get FC09 installed to let us know how it's working for you!
