Last week we heard that the Samsung Galaxy S III may be set to arrive sometime in April, a claim that's said to have come from a Samsung marketing agency. The folks at Samsung have since responded to the rumor using its @samsungtomorrow Twitter account, saying that the reports of an April launch for the new Galaxy S aren't true and that once a date has been decided, it will be revealed on Twitter. Samsung also handed over the following statement to The Verge concerning the rumors about the Galaxy S III Galaxy S II successor:
"The successor to the GALAXY S II smartphone will be unveiled in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product. We cannot confirm the detailed information at the moment."
That's similar to a statement issued by Samsung early last month, which confirmed that the Galaxy S III will make be revealed at a Samsung-held event sometime in the first half of 2012. So now it seems that we're back to where we were at the beginning of February, with several months ahead of us that are wide open for a possible GSIII introduction. That may seem like a long time to wait, but hey, at least Samsung has narrowed down the window of time for the device's debut to "the first half of the year" rather than just going with a more vague "2012" response.
