Much of the Mobile World Congress attention has been focused on HTC's One series and Samsung's tablet announcements, but perhaps the most impressive phone announcement was LG's Optimus 4X HD. The device that's being billed as a successor to the Optimus 2X packs a 1.5 GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, 4.7-inch HD (720p) IPS display, and a front-facing camera. It's running Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0), and is packing a 2,000 mAh battery to handle the processing power (though I still question whether that's enough given the processing power).
In my very limited time with it, I came away impressed. The specifications are strong, it's thin and light, and LG's custom skin over Android 4.0 has seen a drastic overhaul. It appears to be much faster and better optimized with the Android software. I hope we see it in the US at some point.
