Samsung this morning officially took the wraps off of its new Galaxy Note 10.1, a move that surprised just about no one. As one would expect given the "Galaxy Note" portion of the device's name, the Note 10.1 includes an S Pen along with Samsung's S Note software for sketching and note-taking. Samsung is also loading special, S Pen-friendly versions of Adobe Photoshop Touch and Adobe Ideas onto the Galaxy Note 10.1.
As for the Galaxy Note 10.1's hard spec list, the new slate features a 10.1-inch 1280x800 touchscreen, 3-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, 1GB RAM, 16/32/64GB storage, HSPA+ connectivity and a 7,000mAh battery. There's also a 1.4GHz dual-core processor under the hood. A combo of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Samsung's custom TouchWiz UI will come preloaded onto the Galaxy Note 10.1.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 looks to have a styling that's fairly similar to the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab 2. Obviously the big difference between the two (along with some slightly bumped up internals) is the addition of the S Pen, and it's nice to hear that Samsung's throwing in Photoshop Touch and Adobe Ideas with every Galaxy Note 10.1. It'll be interesting to see how consumers react to the Note 10.1 and if the ability to take notes and draw with the device will makes folks pick Samsung's new slate over the many, many (and I mean many) other devices in the ever-growing tablet market. There's no word yet on when the Galaxy Note 10.1 might be launching or how much it'll cost when it does, but we'll pass along more information as we get it.
