It was announced back in August 2011 that Google would be acquiring Motorola Mobility for a cool $12.5 billion, and today news has surfaced about one of the big changes that may be made when the deal finally closes. Three sources have told Bloomberg that Google will select Dennis Woodside, its own senior vice president, to follow Sanjay Jha as CEO of Motorola once the buyout is complete. Both companies declined to comment on the rumor.
As with any major deal like the one between Google and Motorola, it's no surprise to hear that there's going to be some executive shuffling going on, but it's still interesting to hear that Sanjay Jha may be getting replaced by Google's own Dennis Woodside after the buyout is done. Still, Sanjay Jha is said to be getting $66 million out of the deal, so he may not be too upset about it. It's worth noting that Google's acquisition of Motorola was given the green light by both the European Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice earlier this month, but it still needs to be okayed by China before closing.
