The LG Optimus Vu has been one of the more talked about devices in the mobile world since LG originally teased it earlier this month. Today the Optimus Vu and its 5-inch, 4:3 display are back in the headlines, as LG has made the device nice and official, spilling its spec list for all to see. The aforementioned 5-inch IPS display features a resolution of 1024x768 and a 4:3 aspect ratio, and there's also an 8-megapixel camera on the Vu's rear and a 1.3-megapixel shooter around front.
Under the hood the Optimus Vu packs a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 32GB internal storage, LTE and a 2,080mAh battery. The Vu comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box, but LG is promising an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich within three months of its release. Oh, and for those of you that are curious about the Optimus Vu's size, it officially measures 5.496 inches tall, 3.559 inches tall and 0.334 (8.5mm) thick. Along with all of those hardware specs, LG also touted the Optimus Vu's "QuickClip" hotkey that allows users to capture screenshots with one button bush. There's also mention of a dedicated "Rubberdium" stylus in LG's announcement.
As far as availability goes, LG says that the Optimus Vu is due to hit Korean carriers SK Telecom and LG+ in early March. There's no word yet on when or if we might see the Optimus Vu here in the U.S. The good news is that LG has said that more information about the Optimus Vu will be revealed at Mobile World Congress later this month, so you can bet that we'll be on the hunt for any other information that we can find. It should be interesting to see if we can handle the Optimus Vu for ourselves to find out just how a handset with a 5-inch, 4:3 display feels in the hand. Until then, you can find LG's full press release below, and there's also that leaked shot that surfaced earlier this month showing the Vu next to a Samsung Galaxy Note if you'd like to compare the two giganto-phones to one another.
