The iPad 3 rumor mill continues churning today, as a new report has allegedly originating from a person with a prototype version of the tablet has surfaced. According to BGR, the images you see above and below are the result of an iPad 3 hooked up to a debug tool known as iBoot. The shots may look like a bunch of random words and numbers, but tucked inside the mess above you can see a reference to J1, which is believed to be one version of the new iPad (also known as iPad3,1), while a second J2 (iPad 3,2) may be a second variant of the device. One of these iPads is thought to be a Wi-Fi-only model and the other is said to be a version with CDMA/GSM/LTE and Wi-Fi connectivity. Also included in these photos is a reference to a processor with the model number S5L8945X that may be a new A6 quad-core chip.
Both the quad-core processor and LTE support are features that have been tipped in other recent iPad 3 rumors. Of course, we won't know for sure whether or not they'll actually appear in the new iPad until someone from Apple is on stage announcing the thing, but the possible inclusion of an A6 quad-core CPU could make sense considering that Apple used an A4 processor in the iPad and then bumped the iPad 2 up to an A5 dual-core chip. Previous rumors have also mentioned that the iPad 3 may include a new high-res display, but there's no mention of such a component in today's report. What do you all make of the latest iPad 3 rumor? Do you think the we could finally see Apple making the jump to LTE with it's new iOS tablet?
