HTC Elite with Android, LTE Windows Phone reportedly headed for AT&T next year

Last month saw a trio of new HTC smartphones dubbed the Edge, Ville and Zeta churned out by the rumor mill, and today we've got two more devices to keep an eye out for. First is the HTC Elite, an Android-powered handset that BGR's sources believe is headed for AT&T with Ice Cream Sandwich and and Beats Audio in tow. Not much else is known about the Elite spec-wise, but it's reportedly going to be HTC's flagship phone for the first half of next year and is said to be on track for launch as the "Congressional" sometime in the first half of April. 

Next up is something for all of the Windows Phone fans out there. According to BGR, HTC is prepping a 4G LTE-capable Windows Phone for AT&T that's packing a 4.7-inch display, the latter of which is a feature already present in AT&T's lineup thanks to the Titan. As far as a launch goes, this one's rumored to be coming on February 5th. That means that a CES reveal may be in the cards.

Finally, BGR's report mentions a couple of details on HTC's plans for 2012 as a whole. The site reports that a "trusted source" has said that HTC is planning to release fewer phones in 2012 than it did in 2011, with a first quarter that will reportedly be "shockingly quiet." The goal, says the tipster, is to help HTC to focus on getting more quality devices on shelves.

The fact that HTC is hard at work on an Android handset with ICS and Beats isn't much of a surprise since, well, those are two features that we expect to see in several HTC-made handsets next year. Still, this report gives AT&T folks that'll be in the market for a new phone early next year something to look forward to. As for the rumored Windows Phone device, Aaron called the 4.7-inch Titan an "awesome phone" when he reviewed it earlier this month, so the addition of LTE should make this rumored Titan-like handset even more awesome. If the reports pan out, it sounds like AT&T may have a pretty epic Windows Phone battle on its hands next year between Nokia's rumored LTE Lumia 800 and this HTC device. Get the popcorn ready.
