There have been quite a few leaks as of late pointing to an imminent arrival of the Nokia Lumia 710 on T-Mobile, but things are a little different today thanks to a report concerning the top two carriers in the U.S. According to CNET, both AT&T and Verizon are currently testing an LTE-capable version of the Lumia 800, which is the more high-end of the two officially announced Nokia Windows Phone devices. Spokespeople from AT&T, Nokia, and Verizon all declined to comment on the rumor.
As CNET points out, just because a carrier is testing a device doesn't guarantee that the product will ever see an actual release, so this news isn't a guarantee that you'll be able to buy an LTE Lumia 800 from AT&T or Verizon at some point in the future. That said, this isn't the first time that we've heard rumblings of an AT&T-bound Lumia 800 with LTE connectivity. We've also heard Verizon say that LTE support is "critical" for Windows Phone and that it's not sure if it can continue to back the platform without that feature. Taking all that into consideration, combined with Nokia's desire to hit it big here in the U.S., it certainly seems like we've got the ingredients for an LTE Lumia 800 on AT&T and Verizon. Whether or not those ingredients will come together to form a tasty handset sandwich (Nokia is the bread, Windows Phone the meat, AT&T the cheese and Verizon the mustard, obviously) remains to be seen, but hey, CES is just about a month away. Would any of you be interested in snagging an LTE-capable Lumia 800 on either AT&T or Verizon?
