Earlier this week saw the emergence of details on a new HTC handset dubbed the Edge, and today another unannounced HTC-made device has leaked onto the Web. The folks at BGR have been tipped to the existence of a phone codenamed the HTC Ville, which will reportedly be unveiled at Mobile World Congress (alongside the Edge) in late February/early March followed by a launch in April. As far as specs go, the Ville is said to be packing a 4.3-inch qHD (960x540) Super AMOLED display, 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 8-megapixel camera, 1080p video capture, HSPA+, 1,650mAh battery, and Beats Audio in a body that measures 8mm thick. The source of the leak also claims that the Ville will come packing both Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and HTC's Sense 4.0 overlay.
There's not a lot we can say about the look of the HTC Ville itself since the only image we have of it is that render of a mysterious black slab you see above, but if the Ville's specs hold true, it could turn out to be a respectable Android device. The Ville's qHD resolution may be a bit of a bummer for some now that handsets with 720p displays are imminent, but we'll reserve judgement until we can actually give the device a go for ourselves. And before anyone asks, there's no "Ville" on that list of HTC codenames that surfaced yesterday but there is a "Villa," so there may just have been a miscommunication on the name in one of these two leaks. More on this device as we get it.
