So much for making a decision to finally end all the speculation, eh? Earlier today we heard that HP was planning to hold an all-hands meeting tonight where it would discuss the future of webOS. The meeting kicked off just a little bit ago, but it doesn't sound like webOS fans will be getting any kind of information on the fate of the platform just yet. Tipsters in touch with The Verge have said that CEO Meg Whitman hasn't yet decided what to do with webOS, saying that "It's really important to [her] to make the right decision, not the fast decision." Whitman went on to say that a decision will be made sometime in the next three to four weeks. "If HP decides to do this [to keep webOS], we're going to do it in a very significant way over a multi year period," the exec added.

This news is definitely frustrating for all of the webOS fans, and likely for the HP/Palm employees, that just want to know what's going to happen to the platform. It's interesting to hear that Meg Whitman called an all-hands meeting just to say that the company needs more time to figure everything out, but it sounds like HP is weighing its options very carefully. And hey, for all we know, HP may end up pulling a 180 and deciding to keep webOS around. Such a move may go against the recent rumors, but it wouldn't be the first time HP has reversed a major decision. Stay tuned!
