Just what is going to happen to webOS? That's the question that's been on everyone's mind since HP announced way back in August that it would be discontinuing operations on webOS hardware, a little over a year after its purchase of Palm was completed. The topic of webOS came up during an HP analyst call today and, although new HP CEO Meg Whitman didn't have much new information to share, she promised that a decision concerning webOS's fate is coming soon. "The whole team is working very hard to make the right decisions," Whitman said. "We’ll make a decision about long term webOS within the next couple months.”
We've seen the names of a few different companies come up as possible webOS suitors, most notably Amazon and Samsung, although none of the rumors have ever become more than just that. At this point it's not really clear what HP might have in store for webOS, but we're so far on the edge of our seat with anticipation that we're about to fall off, so here's to hoping that the company makes a decision sooner rather than later. What do you all think HP should do with webOS?
