Google is going to finally unwrap Android Ice Cream Sandwich next week at an event in Hong Kong, but for those of you that just can't wait until the 18th, some images of the new Gmail, email, and calendar found in ICS have leaked out. Posted by the folks at Android Police, the shots come from the same source responsible for the leaked ICS Music and Google+ apps from a week ago. The new widgets look cleaner than their Honeycomb counterparts, and the top portion of the calendar widget has a new 3D effect (and some rather interesting appointments). Check out the email and calendar widgets below.
The same source also leaked some alleged details on Ice Cream Sandwich's new Gallery app. According to the tipster, Google will be building some basic photo editing functionality into the Gallery app, including the ability to flip, crop, sharpen, and remove red eye. Users will also reportedly be able to apply a number of different effects to photos, such as fisheye, sepia, grayscale, and posterize. You can find the icons and previews for all of the aforementioned functions and effects at the second source link.
Overall Ice Cream Sandwich looks to be shaping up nicely, and all of these app and widget leaks have done a good job of giving us an idea of what ICS may look and feel like when regular folk like us can finally give it a whirl. When exactly that'll be remains a mystery, but we should learn more about ICS and when it (and presumably the new Nexus phone) will be launching at Samsung and Google's shindig in Hong Kong on Tuesday. Stay tuned.
