Getting hungry for a taste of Mango, Windows Phone users? I hope so, because Microsoft just announced that the next major update to its mobile operating system will begin rolling out "in the next week or two." There's no mention of when specific handsets will begin receiving the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update, but Microsoft has said that it'll update the "Where's my phone update?" schedule (found here) when the new software is launched. AT&T previously announced that it plans to release the Mango update to the HTC Surround, Samsung Focus, LG Quantum, and HTC HD7S sometime this fall.
Microsoft detailed Mango at a preview event held earlier this year, revealing that the update will include new features like multitasking support, Internet Explorer 9, Local Scout (seen at the right in the image above), Quick Cards, messaging threads (seen at the left in the image above), and lots of other goodies. Now the wait for Mango to actually make its way to our Windows Phones begins. As usual, we'll pass along details on updates for specific handsets as we get them. Get excited, Windows Phone fans!
