Heads up, Verizon customers: we've got some news that may just cure your no-Galaxy-S-II blues. According to a source speaking to BGR, Verizon plans to exclusively launch the Samsung DROID Prime — aka Nexus Prime — in October. The device will reportedly carry the model number SCH-i515 and is expected to be the first Android Ice Cream Sandwich device on the market. BGR's source also claims to have knowledge of why Verizon passed on the Galaxy S II, alleging that "Verizon doesn’t think the Samsung GALAXY S II will be competitive with the iPhone 5 when it launches.”
Considering that Verizon is now the only carrier to never have released a Nexus device, the news that a flagship Ice Cream Sandwich handset may be headed to Big Red's shelves is a pretty exciting way to kick off the work week. This is still very much a rumor at this point, though, so you probably shouldn't begin making plans for your current phone's funeral just yet. Still, if the rumor does hold true and we see a DROID Prime land on Verizon in October, I'd say that all of you Big Red Android fans are going to be pretty busy over the next couple of months.
