Remember last month we Apple filed a complaint with the ITC claiming that HTC had infringed on some of its patents? I bet you'll never guess what HTC did today! It's been revealed that the Taiwanese-based company has fired back at Apple, suing it for allegedly infringing on three patents on products like the Mac, iPhone, and iPad. The suit, filed in the U.S. District Court in Delaware, aims to block the importation and sale of the devices in question. HTC is also asking for compensatory damages and triple damages for willful infringement.
This isn't the first time we've seen Apple and HTC trade legal blows and, despite the fact that HTC recently said it was open to having discussions with Apple about reaching a solution, it doesn't come as much of a shock to see HTC hit the iPhone manufacturer with another suit. An ITC judge recently ruled that HTC was in violation of two Apple patents, but that decision is still subject to review by a six-person committee before any sort of ban can be enforced. Neither HTC nor Apple has commented on this latest chapter in the patent battle going on between them.
