Earlier this month, Samsung posted a lengthy walkthrough of its TouchWiz UX on the Galaxy Tab 10.1, and soon regular folks like you and I will be able to give the skin a thorough hands-on of our own. Samsung spent the morning sending out invites to an event on August 3rd where it plans to officially unveil the Tab 10.1's TouchWiz update. After the media-only event wraps up at 1PM EDT, Tab 10.1 owners located in the New York City area will be given the opportunity to bring their very own tablet in and have a Samsung employee sideload the update right there in the Samsung Experience store. As for what exactly is included in the update, Samsung says it'll pack in the new TouchWiz UX with Live Panel and Mini Apps services, a redesigned Samsung Media Hub interface, Amazon's Cloud Player and Kindle apps, and Words with Friends. If you're not lucky enough to be able to make it to Samsung's store on August 3rd, the company says that the update will be rolling out over the air "soon."
All in all it looks like a pretty feature-packed update, although folks are still divided on whether or not it's a good idea for Samsung to slap TouchWiz on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 rather than leave it with vanilla Honeycomb. What do you all make of Samsung's new TouchWiz UX? Think it'll be a good fit on the Tab 10.1 or would you rather the company leave plain ol' Honeycomb on the slate?
