So you're a Motorola XOOM owner on Verizon that's anxiously been awaiting the upgrade that'll allow you and your beloved slate to ride the 4G LTE airwaves. Obviously the upgrade's taking much longer to get underway than Verizon and Motorola initially expected, but those of you considering dropping the XOOM for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 on Thursday may not want to toss out your beloved Moto tablet just yet. According to a document sent over to the folks at Droid-Life, the XOOM's 4G LTE upgrade process will finally kick off in September. No exact date was mentioned, but the doc says that XOOM owners should begin getting emails notifying them about the upgrade today.
Certainly September is later than the "90 days after launch" time frame that Motorola originally expected to begin offering the 4G LTE upgrade in, but hey, the good news is that it's finally almost here. Of course, nothing is really official until it's official, but considering that the LTE module necessary for the update recently passed through the FCC and that September is about as late into summer as one can get, this leak does have quite a bit going for it. Stay tuned, XOOM-ers.
UPDATE: Photo of the email being sent out to XOOM owners has been posted below. Looks like it's finally happening in September, folks.
