"When the heck is the Verizon planning to launch the Motorola DROID Bionic?!" It's one of the hottest questions in wireless as of late, and it seems that no one has a concrete answer. August 4th seems to be the most popular date being churned around in the rumor mill, but a new Sam's Club leak suggests that the Bionic may not be arriving until even later in the year. There's a lot of info to digest in this leaked screenshot, so let's power up the turntable and break this down bullet point style:
- DROID Bionic: The DB's been "pushed to September," according to this Sam's Club leak. Now, for all we know Verizon is still planning to launch the Bionic sometime next month and withhold shipments to other retailers until September. After all, supplies may be constrained since Moto decided to give the handset a new look and feel. So for those of you eagerly awaiting the Bionic's arrival, don't fret just yet.
- BlackBerry Touch: It's not totally clear which handset Sam's Club is referring to here, but the Torch 9850/9860 has gone by the name "Touch" in the past, so we'll go with that for now. An August arrival on Verizon could make sense considering that it's slated to hit Sprint that same month.
- LG Thrill 4G: Sam's Club thinks the Americanized Optimus 3D is due later this month, which lines up with a previous leak. The other day a Radio Shack screenshot showed that August 7th could be the Thrill's arrival date, so it certainly looks like it's due either this coming week or the one after.
- Samsung Conquer: Last we heard, it was due out July 24th, aka today. Obviously that didn't happen. Sam's Club is expecting it late next month, so you Sprintsters waiting for the Conquer may have another few weeks of waiting ahead of you.
So there you have it. It's worth mentioning again that retailers like Costco and Sam's Club don't always launch phones on the same day as the carrier, especially with a high-profile phone like the Bionic, so don't go planning your vacation days just yet. Whenever we get official launch details for the Bionic and these other handsets, though, you can bet we'll let you know so that you can give your boss plenty of notice.
UPDATE: Turns out this leak is from Sam's Club, not Costco. Just FYI.
