Interested in getting your mitts on the new Mango flavor of Microsoft's Windows Phone OS? Up until now, Microsoft has only said that Mango will be rolling out in the fall, but a recent tweet from the official Microsoft Imagine Cup account suggests that the update may be here as soon as September. The Imagine Cup is a contest which has students from all over the country giving their opinion on how technology can be used to solve world problems like hunger, poverty, and health care. As you can see in the tweet above, which has since been deleted, each finalist in the Imagine Cup will be getting a phone with Windows Phone Mango by September.
It's not clear whether or not Microsoft plans to hand out pre-release products or finalized devices to the students, but fall does kick off in September, and a Mango launch in around that time would line up with some previous rumors concerning the update. We'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one going forward, so stay tuned for more as we get it. In the mean time, you can peep a demo of Mango in action right here.
