HTC ThunderBolt to receive update today to address reboot issues

Ready for another round of "Good News, Bad News," HTC ThunderBolt owners? First up, the good news: an image sent over to Droid-Life today has revealed that an update will begin rolling out to ThunderBolts in the wild tonight at 8 PM EDT. The update will include a fix for the random reboot issue that have been plaguing the TBolt for months now — at least that's the hope — and is said to also include the following enhancements:

  • Improved data connectivity
  • Enhanced Call History view
  • Improved Bluetooth Discovery Mode pop-up window
  • View App Menu in tabbed layout
  • People search function enabled
  • Backup Assistant has been added to the All Apps menu
  • Preloaded My Verizon, V CAST Music and V CAST Videos
  • Desktop cradle App is now available, showing clock in landscape mode
  • NY Times site has been added into the browser bookmarks

If you don't feel like waiting for the update to make its way to your ThunderBolt, the photo shows that you should be able to pull it down manually at any time after 8 PM EDT by heading into the Software Update portion of your Settings menu. Now it's time for the bad news: this update will not include Android 2.3 Gingerbread like a previous rumor claimed. Considering how annoying this reboot issue has been for the past two months, though, I'd say that most TBolt owners are going to be thrilled with the update regardless. As always, be sure to check in with us once you get the new software up and running and let us know how it's working for you!
