Many reports have suggested that Apple plans to push out the iPhone 5 this September, but today a new rumor has emerged claiming that it won't be the only high-end smartphone arriving that month. According to "credible sources" speaking with Pop Herald, Samsung is planning to release a improved version of the Galaxy S II in August or September that's meant to do battle with Apple's next generation iPhone and its A5 processor. The beefed up Samsung device may be named the "Galaxy S II Plus" and is said to pack a 1.4GHz processor, 1GB RAM, and Android 2.3.4.
Earlier this year Samsung revealed a new version of the original Galaxy S with a 1.4GHz core, so it wouldn't be a shock to see the company give the Galaxy S II the same treatment. Of course, we're still waiting for the OG Galaxy S II to be released here in the U.S., but if you've got an insatiable need for speed the Galaxy S II Plus may be worth the wait.
