Earlier this month, the rumor mill churned out a report claiming that Google was hard at work on an Ice Cream Sandwich device that may feature a 720p display and 4G LTE connectivity, and today more rumored details on the handset have emerged. The folks over at BGR claim to have confirmed that the phone features a "Super AMOLED HD" display, which suggests that the device will be manufactured by Samsung, as well as an OMAP4460 processor. It's also rumored that the mystery phone is currently codenamed "Prime" and that it may come to market under the moniker "Google Nexus Prime."
The high-end Android rumors don't stop there, as BGR is also reporting that Google is planning an entire wave of DROID/XOOM-like flagship Ice Cream Sandwich devices. Details on the products are scant, but it's said that the exclusive devices will be hitting multiple carriers and will be made by several different manufacturers.
So there you have it. There's not a ton of new information on either the Nexus Prime or the flagship ICS device(s), but it definitely gives those of us in the market for a new smartphone something to look forward to later this year. It'd be kind of interesting to see Samsung given the reins for another Nexus phone after the Nexus S, but if Google is planning several reference ICS devices for release on multiple carriers perhaps it won't be as big of a deal for Moto, HTC, and LG. What do you all make of the rumored Nexus Prime and halo Ice Cream Sandwich devices? Do you like the idea of each carrier getting its own flagship?
