HP's TouchPad is set to finally launch on July 1st, but some new trademark filings may have revealed that the TouchPad may not be the only webOS-powered slate that HP has up its sleeve. Earlier today the folks at Pocketnow discovered that HP recently filed for a handful of trademarks that all involve the name "TouchPad." The names applied for include:
The trademarks in question are said to cover a number of different goods and services, including but not limited to tablets, smartphones, and even computer software. Any of these names could be tied to an unannounced product, like a 7-inch version of the TouchPad or a model with a keyboard, but it'd be pretty surprising to see all six of them become new products. The likely scenario is that one or two names will actually end up being used, with the others either meant to throw people like us off HP's trail or simply not being selected for use. What do you all make of HP's mess of trademark filings? Do you think the company is prepping a new version of the TouchPad or are these names meant for some other purpose?
