Motorola Mobility CEO Sanjay Jha stirred up a bit of controversy last week when he claimed that poorly made third-party Android apps are responsible for 70 percent of device returns. Unsurprisingly, Motorola has come forward to try to clarify Jha's comments and soothe the anger of some third-party developers. Moto said that Jha meant to say that apps are simply one of the many causes of device returns, along with battery life and poor performance. The company went on to say that it's researching what causes customers to return their devices so that it can improve product performance and that it's also investing in resources to help devs create more high quality apps.

Motorola caught quite a bit of flak from end users and developers for Jha's original statement, and although some folks will be appreciative of the fact that Moto's working to help developers create better apps, I'm sure that there are still some out there still feeling a bit burned.
