Been wondering what Google has up its sleeve for the third entry in the Nexus line of devices? If a report from TechHog is to be believed, Google will select either HTC or LG as the company that'll be selected to manufacture the next Nexus device, which the site claims will launch in December with an impressive spec list. What you're looking at above is allegedly the HTC test device that's being considered for the third Nexus. As you can see, it's lacking the standard Android navigation keys, reportedly because they won't be necessary on devices running Android Ice Cream Sandwich. There's also a front-facing camera to the left of the device's speaker. The source of the image, who is reportedly an Android developer at Google, claims that it features support for both HSPA+ and Sprint CDMA. It's also worth noting that the exterior will most likely change if/when this handset comes to market, so don't fret too much if you don't care for the look of the device in the photo. LG also has allegedly has a device that's currently in testing at Google that's described as "very generic."

So which manufacturer will Google go with? It's too early to say right now, but the source of the photo says that many of the Android devs still prefer using the Nexus One over the Nexus S, so they're pulling for HTC. The N1 certainly was a popular device, so I'm sure many folks would be happy to see HTC chosen as the manufacturer of the new Nexus, although it might be interested to see what kind of handset LG could craft if it were given the chance.
