Yesterday, the T-Mobile G2x mysteriously disappeared from the carrier's online store and there was speculation that it had been yanked due to qualityissues. Eventually T-Mobile came forward and said that the reason the G2x disappeared is because it's been so popular that they're experiencing inventory constraints. However, today a T-Mobile spokesperson admitted that "a small percentage of customers have commented about possible improvements" to the G2x. The good news is that the rep said that T-Mobile is working with LG to push out a software update to the G2x that they "expect to offer some performance enhancements."
Speaking of G2x updates, T-Mobile recently confirmed on Twitter that the device will see an update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread "by summer." That timeframe is a bit more concrete than the carrier's previous statement declaring that the update would be coming "soon."
The G2x rebooting issue seems to be one of the more prevalent problems among owners of the device, so hopefully a fix for that problem is one of the "performance enhancements" that T-Mobile described. Unfortunately, there's no mention of when that update will be coming, but you can be sure we'll let you know when we learn more about both it and the Gingerbread update's launch dates.
