Interested in learning whether or not your beloved Verizon DROID will be updated to Android 2.3? If it was released in the last year or so, you're in luck. A Motorola employee has confirmed in the company's official support forums that the DROID X, DROID Pro, DROID 2, and DROID 2 Global will all be getting an update to Gingerbread which will include "improved Exchange Activesync functionality." Moto couldn't supply concrete launch dates for the various updates, although the employee did say that the DROID X's will come sometime before Q2 is up while updates for the other three devices will be coming before the end of Q3 "or sooner."
Of course, we should point out that these time frames could change depending on whether or not Verizon approves the updates, but it's still great to get confirmation that 2.3 updates are in the works. The good news is that the folks at Droid-Life have heard that most of the builds have already been completed and are just waiting to get Verizon's approval, so they could be coming along sooner rather than later. As usual, we'll keep you updated.
