AT&T may not be rolling out its LTE network until later this year, but today the carrier took some time to show off what that network will be capable of. Using a multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with both 700MHz and AWS frequencies, AT&T's test yielded download speeds of around 28.87Mbps, while upload speeds hovered around the 10.4Mbps mark. According to AT&T, those are numbers that regular folk like you and I can expect to see when it flips the switch on its LTE coverage.
The speeds attained by AT&T are pretty impressive, especially compared to what some of us have seen from its "4G" network is capable of. As GigaOM points out, though, customers may not always see such high speeds when sharing them with others in the same area. Thankfully we may not have to wait long to find out exactly what AT&T's LTE network is capable of, as a recent report claimed that it could be going live as soon as June 30th. Stay tuned.
