We've seen the Motorola DROID X2, aka DROID X², leak more times than you can shake an Android at over the past several months, but it appears that the successor to the Motorola and Verizon's original giganto-phone could launch in the near future. According to a document just posted by the folks at Droid-Life, the DROID X2 will be launching at Verizon on May 26th, which is exactly two weeks from today. The doc also mentions that a Direct Fulfillment launch will begin on the 19th, which suggests that a pre-order for the X2 could soon be underway. Some of the X2's specs are a part of this leak, as well, like the 4.3-inch 960x540 qHD display and dual-core 1GHz processor, but you already knew all of that thanks to the appearance of the device's full spec sheet last weekend. It is worth noting, however, that that leaked spec sheet claimed that the X2 would pack Android 2.2 at launch, but Droid-Life believes that the handset could instead come preloaded with Gingerbread.
As usual, unconfirmed launch dates should be taken with a few grains of salt because A) they're unconfirmed and B) release dates can and do often change. That said, we've seen quite a bit of evidence lately that points toward a DROID X2 launch happening sooner rather than later, so a May 26th debut certainly wouldn't be a shock. So, who's ready to pony up $199.99 for one of these bad boys?
