After last night's leak, which showed that Motorola XOOM cases have begun making their way into Sprint stores, we speculated that the WiMAX-enabled XOOM could be just around the corner. Now it seems that we may be waiting a tad longer than anticipated, as BGR is reporting that Sprint will actually be offering the WiFi-only XOOM initially with the 4G version to come later on. There's no word on why this is the case or when the WiMAXed XOOM will arrive.

If true, this news is kind of surprising and could be kind of a bummer for those of us looking forward to getting our XOOM on with Sprint's 4G network. For anyone that's interested in picking up the cellular-less Motorola XOOM, though, it'll be nice to have another place to purchase the device. Whenever we learn more about the XOOM coming to Sprint, whether it's the WiFi-only model or the WiMAX-enabled variant, we'll let you know.
